INNOVATION DATA PROCESSING ANNOUNCEMENTS
DST - Daylight Savings Time
For all of Innovation’s mainframe products, including:
- FDR, FDREPORT and FDRABR
- FDRPAS and FDRERASE
- FATS, FATAR and FATSCOPY
- IAM
there is no impact from the USA Daylight Saving change in 2007 (DST2007).
Many of these products may use the time and date to record timestamps
or set dates
in dataset labels, but they always pick up the current time and date, however
it is set. It is the responsibility of the installation to change the time
and date appropriately, either manually (console SET command) or with
some sort of
automation.
There is one consideration for FDRABR. This has nothing to do with
the DST2007 change, it has always existed:
- FDRABR gets the date at the start of execution and uses it for
various purposes, such as checking for ADAYS= (days since last use)
and CRDAYS= (days since creation)
in ABR Archive.
- If an ABR Archive job is started after midnight, but before 1 AM
the time is set back an hour, making it the previous day, then ABR
may inappropriately
select data sets based on the original date.
- So, Innovation recommends that an installation using ABR Archive
be sure not to change the time during the hour immediately after midnight.
Many installations
use 2 AM as the time to change the clock.
