Y2K Alert for users of Computer
Associates tape management systems:
Users of CA-1 or CA-DYNAM/TLMS tape management who manually changed the
expiration of tapes to 99365 may have caused those tapes to expire on
12/31/99. This could occur even if the manual update was done long ago.
When manually updating expiration dates, 99365 is NOT the documented way
to indicate permanent retention; it will be treated as a real expiration
date. Contact CA support for assistance in identifying tapes which were
incorrectly scratched on 12/31/99. If you have lost FDR backup tapes due
to this problem, please contact Innovation for assistance at (973) 890-7300
or by E-Mail at support@fdrinnovation.com
NOTE: This is not an error in CA code, which is working
as documented. The problem occurs only when users are trying to change
the expiration of an existing tape to "permanent" and don't
follow the documented procedures for doing so.
If you have questions on either of the two problems above, or any other
Y2K questions involving Innovation products, please contact Innovation
by phone (973-890-7300) or email support@fdrinnovation.com
