SUMMARY OF MODIFICATIONS FOR V5.4 LEVEL 40

Archive Control File Max Size The maximum size of the Archive Control File has been expanded to 65,535 tracks which will hold 22,806,180 records when it resides on a 3390 with the default half-track blocking. The control file contains one record per archived non-VSAM data sets (one record per volume for multivolume data sets) and several records per volume for VSAM clusters.
The SORT-based REORG function of FDRARCH It has been enhanced to improve elapsed time when reorganizing large control files.
The ENQs These prevent auto-recalls from occurring during the REORG are now released earlier in the REORG process.
(Innovation suggests that ABR customers who intend to use such large Archive Control Files contact us for suggestions and considerations for managing them.)
FDRREORG OF IAM RRDS FILES FDRREORG This can reorganize IAM RRDS-type files, as well as other IAM, VSAM, and PDS data sets.
FDREPORT VOLUME SUMMARY FDREPORT This now includes a volume summary function, invoked by the VOLSUMMARY= operand on the DEFAULT or PRINT statement. When used with DATATYPE=VOLDATA (volume level statistics), it produces summary reports by SMS storage group, volume serial prefix, unit address prefix, device type, or a summary of all volumes selected, instead of individual volume reports. The volume-level fields you selected will be totaled, averaged or recalculated as appropriate; fields which are unique by volume will be blanked.
FDREPORT VVDS ERRORS FDREPORT This has long been able to diagnose VVDS errors (ENABLE=DIAGNOSEVVDS). Now a new data set-level field, VVRSTATS, will allow you to report on or select data sets (VSAM or SMSmanaged non-VSAM) which have VVDS errors. You can even select based on the type of VVDS error, such as duplicate VVR entries. Most such VVDS errors are detected even if DIAGNOSEVVDS is not specified, but some require the more extensive checking of that option.
LXMAXSTC DEFAULT The default value in the FDR Option Table for LXMAXSTC (maximum number of started tasks for auto-recall) has been changed from NONE (no limit) to 100. If you use the FDR install dialog to copy an old option table with the old default of NONE, it will be automatically changed to 100.
See Section 90.20 for details.
